Exploring the Fujifilm X-T5: A New Era for X Series Enthusiasts
Eight years ago, I had the privilege of testing a new camera that hadn’t even been announced yet—the Fujifilm X-T1. Its exceptional performance and compact, rugged design instantly won me over. With each successive model—the X-T2, X-T3, and X-T4—my love for the X Series grew, witnessing the remarkable evolution of this versatile mirrorless camera lineup.
This week, a new chapter began in my X Series journey when I managed to snag the last X-T5 in stock at my local store. As soon as I unboxed it and held the camera in my hands, my fondness for the X Series was rekindled with this hot-rodded fifth-generation model. Featuring a common 3-way tilt LCD screen, it felt like home all over again.
While I won’t delve into the technical specs here (you can find those details in my detailed X-T5 review), it’s worth noting that the X-T5 retains the familiar, compact body reminiscent of the X-T1, yet packs a bionic punch with its significantly upgraded fifth-generation features.
With the release of the radically enhanced fifth-gen features and specs this fall, such as those introduced with the X-H2 and X-H2S, the X-T5 brings nearly all of that innovation into the classic SLR-style “X-T” body that so many photographers adore.
Living in Anchorage, Alaska, this “magic hoar frost” season inspired me to quickly slap on a lens, the XF70-300mm, bundle up, and take it for a brisk walk around my neighborhood in the clear, cold -10°F air. Over the next 53 minutes, I captured a set of images that truly showcase everything I love about the X Series.
All these images are straight JPEGs straight out of the camera. Most were shot with the Velvia film simulation, although the last photograph in this post was made with the new Nostalgic NEG film sim.
I’ll definitely be posting more photos and doing review posts and videos for the X-T5 after the new year. For now, enjoy these snowy scenes and have a great holiday season!

Additionally, if you do get one, my bestselling Fuji guide, X SERIES UNLIMITED, has been fully updated with all the relevant X-T5 details.
In conclusion, the Fujifilm X-T5 is a remarkable addition to the X Series, combining the best of both worlds: a classic SLR-style body with cutting-edge technology. Whether you’re a professional or a photography enthusiast, this camera is set to elevate your photography game, capturing every moment with incredible detail and color.
